When this story began we were living in a 1500 square ft. house on a little over 3.5 acres while owning another property in the city with a 800 square ft home that we rented out over a 9 year period. We owned motorcycles and other motorized toys over the years. My husband, while being very tech savvy, used to work as a mechanic, so picking up broken items and fixing them up, using them and selling them was ongoing.
We had our house and garage attics full of items and our garage and large pole barn full as well. In our home, we had a small day to day computer for me with a 32 inch monitor. We have a faster gaming computer for him hooked to a 42 inch flat screen in another room, a stand up arcade, a 90 plus inch projector medica system with cable TV, Xbox, Play Station, etc., 4 tablets, a laptop and 2 smart phones. We had exercise equipment and a 24 ft. round above ground swimming pool. We truly needed and wanted for no items.
Birthdays and holidays were a struggle since we bought everything we wanted or needed at the time we wanted or needed it. Neither of us have any major health issues. I am sure some may have looked upon us and thought we were living the American dream. Why weren't we happy? Why didn't we have peace?
We, like many, were addicted to STUFF! We bought in to premise that if you have the latest and greatest stuff, life is wonderful.
We were succeeding at this, in as far as the amount of stuff we had accumulated, but were always working to pay for the stuff that we barely had time to use and hardly any time for each other. Trips were nearly impossible due to the pets. My husband bought and fixed up an old RV so we could take them with us to the drag strip to watch him race but other than camping in the RV in our yard, we weren't exactly travelers. Early in 2015 something happened that would plant the seed that would begin changing our lives. This is the story of our journey to Tinysville, Floriga. We would love to have you along for the ride.
